RACE DESCRIPTIONS

  • Main Race, Qualification

You’ll get a manifest with a shit ton of jobs on it. How much each job pays will be on the manifest. Go in any order. You’ll have 2 hours to make as much money as you can. Start whenever you want. Top 100 qualifiers advance to the Finals.

  • Main Race, Finals

Same checkpoints as before. The first person to complete all the manifests - there will be many - wins the race. Each manifest will have different rules regarding the order in which the pick ups and deliveries need to be made. As the race progresses, riders will be eliminated as fewer and fewer manifests become available.

  • UDCECNAWFGCC

The Unofficial DC East Coast North American World Fixed Gear Courier Championships. Fixed gear only Alleycat race. Hand brakes allowed but no freewheels or coaster brakes. The checkpoints will all be traffic circles. At each circle you have to do a lap. The specific circles and the order you will need to go in will be announced on Friday.

  • Quick Lock

Riders face off in a series of head-to-head competitions. First rider to get their bike locked to the barricade advances, the loser does not. There will be a 2nd Chance round for those initial losers, but after that it becomes a single elimination tournament.

  • Slow Race

10-30 meters in length. 3-10 riders per heat. No stopping, track standing, hopping or putting a foot down. Slowest rider advances. The same elimination style/2nd chance system will be used as before.

  • Forwards Circles

How many circles can you ride in 1 minute? Simple as that. Time permitting we’ll give everyone a 2nd try.

  • Foot Down

There will be a designated competition area. Ride around in circles, within the designated area, and try to knock everyone else over or force them out of the area. You must keep your hands and feet on your bike at all times. No pushing, grabbing or kicking! Fall or step off your bike, or leave the designated area and you’re eliminated and must leave the area immediately. Last 5 riders standing get a ranking. There will be 5 rounds. Combined score from all 5 rounds will determine the winner.

  • Team Foot Down

Basically the same as regular Foot Down, but in teams. 3 riders per team, 3-5 teams per round. Each team must designate 1 Captain. The last team with a captain left standing wins. The same elimination style/2nd chance system will be used as before.

  • Cargo Stand

Basically a Track Stand competition, except instead of all that silly, taking your hands and feet off the bike stuff (I don’t know about you but when I track stand at a light, I always do it no-handed, one-footed), at set time intervals, competitors will be handed a randomly selected item. Some of the items will be easier to carry than others. Fall or step off your bike, drop or damage an item and your out. Any/all bikes are welcome to participate, this is not just for track or cargo bikes. The event will be run in heats of 3, using the same elimination style/2nd chance system as in the other events.

  • Selfie Cat

You’ll get a manifest with an impossibly large number of checkpoints and a handful of bonuses. Go in any order. Take as many selfies at the checkpoints and do as many bonuses as you can within the time limit. Lose points for returning late.

  • Ruff News Time Trial

A DC messenger tradition since the late 90s. 5 miles across a hilly, windy course through Rock Creek Park. It’s pretty quiet back there but parts of it are open to traffic so be careful and don’t get lost!
